I got back to the fantastical realm of Spirisity at around seven in the evening.

I anticipated turbulence of some sort but there was none. The skies were clear. It was a wonderfully chilly February evening and the skies were completely calm. They had that cobalt-blue which always signalled an element of mystery and intrigue but there was not a single cloud among them. And with all the chaos of late, I wasn't entirely sure if it was a good thing or whether we should have been far more concerned than what we had been.

Soon, whether he was facing up to the fact or not, Damien Daughtry would have a child. A daughter that would also belong to Rhiannon as well as Damien. All knew what role Damaris would have to play or whether she even survived the birth. Demonic pregnancies are not normally favoured to be ripe with immortality, but what I did know was that the event would test everyone beyond anything we would ever know.

Damien. Gwendolyn. Damaris… and even myself. If I am being honest, perhaps even Samuel, too, but I don't think someone of his nature would be able to understand the amount of strength required to get us all through the upcoming months.

So naturally, when I returned to Samuel's lair, things were tense but he was doing his utmost to act as though everything was fine. I was being made to be the guy that would be in the thick of it, which would prove troublesome. But what did I expect?

I was working alongside the lightbringer. The lord, chief, and light hierarchy of Spirisity. You can't presume all will be fine and dandy, singing sweet lullabies while the midst of hell on Earth reveals itself in its wake.

“Ah, Astrid. You are back. It is about time,” Samuel announced with a furrowed brow. He looked worried but he also had that glance about him that made me suspect trouble was afoot. Samuel always had that when he was about to conduct something that would predominantly make someone or something increasingly uncomfortable. I had to assume the latter because it wasn't going to be rainbow-coated gloriousness laced with milk chocolate-covered delicacies.

“Oh?” I piped up.

I was not wearing a worried expression as of yet but I figured it was something I should be prepared for since Samuel was over-eager for my prompt attention.

“It's time to spread your wings, Astrid,” Samuel informed me with a forewarning glance.

Oh, lord! I am being fired. I gasped in horror in the back of my mind, and then I realised that was just the anxiety talking. No, he wouldn't. Samuel doesn't strike me as a guy that gives up easily. Look at the fight he put up for Evanora.

I stopped overthinking and turned my attention to what Samuel was saying although I was having difficulty assessing just what he was going on about.

“Is it indeed? Perhaps you might want to enlighten me as to what your meaning is in regards to?” I asked rather coarsely.
